LoveSac Sactional Review

Hi everyone! Today I want to talk about our newest addition to our tiny living room- the Lovesac sactional! Our family desperately needed a new couch that would fit our growing family, however, it needed to check off quite a few boxes before I was willing to invest.

First and most importantly it needed to FIT. We are working with less than 10x10 of space in the living room. I wanted us all to have a seat. I wanted room for guests to be able to sit comfortably. It needed to be washable, modular because our door opening is less than 36", and kid-proof or as close to it as possible!

I researched a few companies. We came very close to purchasing a HomeReserve sectional. HomeReserve checked all boxes and was significantly cheaper, however, their reviews were clear about 2 important things: the seating is firm and the particle board base is flimsy. We like soft seating and my 2 little boys would have the board broken instantly! They are pretty rambunctious.

Our Sactional and ottoman were ordered with a 35% off coupon. I highly suggest ordering during the times the discount is offered because if not the couch adds up in cost quite quickly. Ours was a little over $4200 in total. They do offer financing options. We didn't go with the fancy seat covers or the super plush cushion options. I didn't like how reviewers said the softer cushions looked over time. Cushions that slump aren't my style. We went very basic with our sactional but there are many very nice custom options available including the new reclining seats!

We ordered the 4 Seats + 6 Sides (1Deep) layout with an extra storage ottoman. We ordered all angled sides. The dimensions of this layout are 99×76. The ottoman is 29×41. The seat covers we ordered were the color Taupe Combed Chenille which is the perfect shade of neutral gray/brown. It's very smoothe and soft to touch.

The order came in approximately 2 weeks, and in 16 different boxes. The order does not come with instructions for your ordered layout. I definitely view this as a con. Setting up without instructions was an absolute nightmare and felt a lot like the game of Tetris. Set up took us nearly 5 hours and it would have been smoother if they sent directions. However, this is not difficult to build, just to arrange correctly so everything fits perfectly. Putting the covers on is a 2 person job. I highly suggest gloves because the fabric burns your hands after a while. It's not physically difficult but getting the seams to line up is tedious.

Once the couch is set up it is pretty straight forward with arranging the cushions. Once the cushions and pillows are arranged on the couch, you are all set. I would describe the couch as a perfect mix of plush and firm. It's large and everyone has a spot to relax. The only uncomfortable part of the couch in my opinion is in the corner seat of the sactional. The pillows at the angle they sit do not support the neck and back well, but if you put a throw pillow behind your back it is comfortable and cozy!

We are all loving it so far. I will update this blog in a year for an updated review!

1000 sq ft 5 years Later

I cannot believe we are coming in on 6 years living in our 1000 sq ft home! It's been a while since I've updated this blog but I figured what better way than to jump into an updated house tour.

A background story to where this story all began: My husband was offered a wonderful job that required major relocation. We had 6 weeks to sell our first home and to buy another in a new state. This was in 2019. We had one weekend to choose a home. We picked a 3 bedroom 1875 New England Cape starter home for 200k with a 3% interest rate because we figured we would sell in a few years once settled in. Covid, inflation, rising interest rates, and astronomical  home prices lead us to realize this starter home may very well be our forever home.

So here we are, raising 2 boys in a tiny little 1000 sq ft home and utilizing all the space to make it functional and also comfortable. Let's begin the tour!

The first spot you will see when entering our home is our sunroom. We open it up in the spring and summer for fresh salt water air flow and close it up for the fall to enjoy the warmth of the sun while avoiding the chilly outside air. It's a favorite spot for us all. We have a shoe chest and a porch swing on the opposite side. The wicker ottoman holds our rock salt for the winter months. Storage is everything in a small home!

When you walk through the front door off the sunroom you will immediately see our split living and dining room. This room could have been used as one large living room but family dinners are important to me and having a dedicated dining area was a must have. We have a couch that pulls out into a bed for over night guests, storage for blankets in the wicker ottoman to the left of the couch, and a TV stand that is also a fireplace for added warmth. It's not large but we all manage. The dining room hutch holds some party supplies and table cloths/mixing bowls.

Passing through the living room and dining area you will immediately see a kitchen and coffee station. We utilize just about every inch of this kitchen space for kitchen storage and the coffee station holds our coffee and tea needs along with children's books and craft supplies.

We have our one and only bathroom off of the kitchen. Even though it is small it serves it's purpose well and has ample storage for all of our needs. We recently redid the floors and painted and added a towel warmer which has been a wonderful addition!

We have a small mudroom for coats, hats, bags, and a small chest of drawers for all of our gear. We added a barn door to hide how quickly this space clutters up! We also keep our trash and recycling bins in this area which is a great space saver! There is also a small hallway with a laundry closet.

We have 3 bedrooms. A small bedroom downstairs we currently are utilizing as a toy room, a bedroom upstairs with a long and narrow walk in closet which is being used as a shared boys room, and the largest room in the house being our master bedroom. I have a walk in and out closet and my husband has his own walk in closet. None of these rooms are "finished" but we have big plans for the future! I am attaching photos of the spaces as they have been used.

We also have a large fenced in yard that we have plenty of entertaining space in.
I hope this helps show you that it is possible to live and enjoy living in a small home. We sure do! Until next time.
